MINNEAPOLIS – There are reports that the NFL’s investigation into alleged charges against the Atlanta Falcons over their involvement with former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins could reach a conclusion this week.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said he expects this to happen before the start of Thursday’s NFL Draft because the discipline “will likely involve draft picks.”

He also said sources told him the Falcons could see significant punishment for the alleged tampering with Kirk Cousins.

The Falcons agreed to a contract with the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback shortly after teams were allowed to begin negotiating with unrestricted free agents in mid-March. Cousins told reporters during his introductory news conference that he had spoken to Falcons team trainers, which would be illegal.

“There are great people here. And it’s not just the football team,” Cousins said during his opening press conference. “I mean, I look at the support staff. Meeting – called yesterday, called our head athletic trainer, talked to our head of PR. I think, we’ve got good people here. And that’s exciting to be a part of.”

Cousins spent six seasons with the Vikings before signing a massive four-year contract worth $180 million to join Atlanta.

Schefter also said a resolution is expected this week regarding the Philadelphia Eagles’ alleged involvement with then-free agent running back Saquon Barkley.
